ACC Accidental Death Grant
The ACC Funeral Grant provides financial assistance to help families cover funeral costs when someone dies as a result of an accident or injury covered by ACC in New Zealand. ACC can contribute up to $7,990.30 toward essential expenses such as the casket, embalming, cremation or burial fees, venue hire, transport, and other necessary funeral arrangements. This payment is made directly to the family or funeral home once ACC accepts the claim — and it is not income-tested. In addition to the funeral grant, eligible partners, children, and dependants may also receive a one-off survivor’s grant and ongoing weekly compensation. The ACC Funeral Grant provides meaningful financial support for whānau in Auckland and across New Zealand, easing the pressure of unexpected costs after a sudden loss.
