Grave digging / interment

This fee covers opening and closing an adult grave for burial at the selected cemetery. Choose the cemetery and the required depth or reopening service. Plot purchase is separate; an existing family plot still requires an interment fee.

A reopening uses single depth where the cemetery's schedule provides that rate. Manukau Memorial Gardens, North Shore Memorial Park and Waikumete explicitly charge the same rate for single depth or reopening. For Purewa and Mangere, confirm the reopening requirements and applicable single/ordinary-depth rate with the cemetery before arrangements are finalised.

• Purewa: single depth $1,900; double depth $2,100. Older-area digging adds $270. Schedule effective 15 January 2026.
• Mangere: ordinary depth $1,500; extra depth $1,500; triple depth $2,000 by negotiation. Berm type does not determine depth. Schedule effective 1 October 2025.
• Manukau Memorial Gardens, North Shore Memorial Park and Waikumete: single depth or reopening $1,410; double depth $1,545. Triple-depth rates are not listed in the revised 22 June 2026 schedules effective 1 July 2026. Council triple-depth selections are unavailable for an online priced estimate until the cemetery confirms current arrangements and charges. Any retained historical variant price must not be treated as a current fee.

Weekend, public-holiday, late, larger-plot and other applicable cemetery charges are additional. Confirm the selected depth, grave suitability, availability and final charges with the cemetery. Only the combinations listed for each cemetery have a verified fee.

Prices are in NZD and include GST. Supplier schedules checked 4 October 2026, including the revised Council schedules issued 22 June 2026.
